LIFE UPDATES
I really don't have much shop-related news to bring to you this month. I started a new job a few weeks ago and that has been my whole life for a while. I work at a funeral home now :) I know I mentioned a while back wanting to go back to school for mortuary sciences or funeral services, and in doing some research into career paths I found an opening at a location near me. Lo and behold, I actually managed to land the job without any previous experience in the death care industry. I can't disclose much about my work out of respect and privacy, but I can confidently share that I love what I do now. It's strange and scary sometimes, it can be mentally and physically taxing, but every day I feel like I did my job right and maybe helped some people, and that makes me feel very fulfilled.
With the year wrapping up, something in me wants to tie up every loose end and I find myself stressing about projects and goals I have not yet reached. I want to move out of my current home and into my partner's home soon. I want to get some legal documents I've been setting to the side sorted out as soon as possible. I want to clean out my closet. I want to go running again. I want to make Hornet and Knight costumes for my boyfriend and I to wear on Halloween!!! It's a lot of things and it's all stuff I put on my own plate and it's kind of daunting, but all the same it feels good to want things. It feels good to have so many desires and goals and milestones set before me. For a while I was so sure I didn't have anything to look forward to. I had convinced myself that I already did everything I wanted or needed to do. Now, even something like having food in my fridge I want to eat or a friend I want to see in the next two weeks is such a blessing. The future doesn't have to be anything grandiose. It's enough to look forward to sweeping my floor on Sunday afternoon or watching that show I like in the evening.
On that note: the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention walk was earlier this month :) My partner and I went to the Out of the Darkness walk together and I was admittedly pretty overstimulated and irritable at the start, but soon found myself really enjoying the presence of everyone else. It was heartwarming to see how many people showed up to show their support and care for loved ones, lost ones, and complete strangers. The college campus our walk was held at had chalk indicators along the walking path with encouraging notes and doodles peppered here and there all the way. My partner and I listened to music we like together while walking and it felt good to be there. Afterwards we got food at one of our favorite vegan restaurants in town hehe.

I've been crocheting in the evenings after work, mostly making clowns. The plan was to make a solid amount of stock and do a big shop reopening/release towards the end of the year, but I'm not so sure about that at this time. There's my new work schedule getting in the way but also things like... the administration... tariffs... there is a lot I need to do some research on. It is a lot and I'm kind of stupid a little bit and it is hard to get my brain to focus on important things like this. For now, I continue making... clown...
FUTURE EVENTS
Regrettably, I've had to cancel a lot of my in-person events :( I love my job but it makes it hard to properly prepare for markets and the like. This month I am only doing one Farmers Market day and no additional conventions, even though I had so much more planned for October a few weeks ago. I'm not sure what will become of November and December, but at the very least I'm hoping to properly ride out the final weeks of my work with the Turlock Farmers Market. I apologize to anyone who may have been looking forward to other in-person events in the coming weeks. In any case, I really appreciate each of you!
I hope each of you have been doing well. I hope you feel loved and fulfilled and cared for. Do you have Halloween plans? Are you looking forward to anything this month? May your food be delicious and your days be wondrous. I wish you well and hope to see you again some time. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being here.
With love,
Ciara
